Shear behavior of stainless steel girders with corrugated webs

In this paper, the shear strength of corrugated web girders made EN 1.4162/LDX 2101 stainless steel is investigated. Four full-scale trapezoidal were tested under shear. Before conducting tests, DIC was used to measure real geometric imperfections in panels. Complementary finite element analysis studies conducted assess sensitivity initial imperfections. The experimental results indicated that all with a local slenderness ratio λ = 0.7 attained yield strength, which then followed by strain hardening material at level 8–18% higher than strength. This implies Eurocode's limit 0.25 attain plastic webs can be quite conservative for steel. According findings imperfection studies, an based on first eigen buckling mode and maximum amplitude amax/200, where amax corrugation fold length, yielded ultimate within 3% test results.
